(Take your pick, I imagine this'll be like that whole Hilda/Touko thing all over again...) Princess Leia, Sailor Moon, Donut Girl(?)...these were the nicknames I often heard about the new trainer girl for Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 (BW2 for short).
Doesn't matter what people called her, I was more intrigued about the theory of both trainers wearing wetsuits underneath their clothes and anyone that didn't think I'd take advantage of this theory is a fool among men. A FOOL!
Anyway, the wetsuit design is a carbon copy of that Rage Cartoon-thingie someone posted on /vp/ from PokéMemes -- so credit is due to that young lady that photoshopped the outfit, whomever she is. There's no scuba gear in the actual BW2 game however, so thank goodness for fanart.
Some might know that I'm not really that fond of those mouth based rebreathers
(Update: I've been told that they are known as "Air Fins" [エアーフィン] apparently - [link] , [link] so you CAN get them in real life, which is kinda cool for some people I bet) the Pokémon anime and the Ranger games use, so I had Shoxxe repurpose them in a way more suiting to my tastes (he wouldn't be the first to do so either, but at this point he sets the new standard for any future UW Pokémon pictures...) -- surprisingly with a bit of inspiration by Kikumaru Bunta's Nausicaa hentai of all things (Gelbooru searches can yield a lot of...interesting stuff) to design the breather mask.
I wanted to capture Yusuke Ohmura's design (his stuff's different Sugimori and Unno's stuff somewhat...) when I colored the eyes, ranging from full on starry glints in two shots to just a plain circle in the bottom right and of course did the standard cheesy CG background effects I usually do for concept sheets -- this time with a neat underwater effect. Even used different colors to shade between UW and non-UW to give that submerged effect.
Surprisingly, her hair was fun to shade...
Rosa/Mei won't be the last character we see in this kind of gear. Though hard to say if Shoxxe will be the one to handle it, but he does shine with Pokémon characters.
Could you? Because I have to ask what was wrong with the scuba gear in "Mantine Overboard"? I actually have a list of pokegirls in "Mantine Overboard"-style scuba gear (I'd ask for someone like you or Shoxxe to cover the list as a commission, but I lack the method to pay you
The list, by generation is: Sabrina, Erika, Lorelei, May, Flannery, and Cynthia (I'm also flip-flopping on whether or not to add Duplica, Crystal, and Clair to the list).
Subjectively, I was getting at how Pokémon has things like the PC transfer system, F-Zero-like cars (in the anime at least, the games suggest more down to earth vehicles) and yet the full dive equipment feels more kitsch than futuristic looking.
Mind you, I am merely speaking for my own tastes and my heaviest apologies if I were projecting it as a standard. That comes from my sense of entitlement (or being jaded from having some ideas shot down over time) which get me a tad dogmatic.
That isn't to say I wouldn't be up to coloring any of your ideas should you have come across the means to get the work out. Hell, I even encourage you to go through with it if you have the chance in the same way I give a silent nod of approval to
(I played with the idea of asking you to make the requests in my place, but I shot that idea down because it would be extremely unfair to both of us and especially for you since I would be asking you to ask for something that doesn't fit your tastes and it would make me look INCREDIBLY vain.)
Rosa?
