The Mask surfaces in the world of Arcadia and the Silvite maiden Fina has fallen prey to its green grasp. Watch out Vyse, there's going to some craziness on Crescent Isle tonight!
A while back when me and ~HazardGallantmon started to buddy up, he started asking me all sorts of questions about possible future Mask victims (obviously after catching wind to the gallery). He sort of struck a curious nerve when one of those questions involved the Dreamcast (and GameCube) RPG from Sega "Skies of Arcadia". It seemed interesting enough, but I wasn't in much of a position to commission at the time so I made a few rough sketches to what the idea would look like (!?) and sent it to him. He seemed to like the design and wondered if I finalize it. Didn't follow up his word really, but it coincide with the fact he was writing a fairly enjoyable Skies of Arcadia/Mask crossover called "Skies of the Mask" (which may or may not have been inspired by the events provided from my pre-revised backstory)
Months passed and he faved a really good Skies of Arcadia picture. Found out the artist of said piece took commissions and I dumped a LOT of "training material" (same references I gave *shoxxe to start on Delia a year ago) as well as the instructions to do a "remake" of my crude sketch. That brings us here.
Needless to say, ~CerberusLives had me FLOORED with the results, especially for a first try Mask picture. This won't be the last I'll have out of him either.
In an alternate universe The Mask seemingly teleported itself into the world of Arcadia, in the great Cloud Sea. Around the time the Blue Rogues searched for Fina's ship one of the red herrings they've picked up was an ordinary green Mask.
Domingo figures it could probably make a fortune, but he finds it too ugly to appraise.
Sometime later, after the fall of Galcian things are pretty quiet. Fina is being spoken to by the Mask. She even receives visions of all the bad things the Mask has done which has terrified her of ever wearing it, fearing she may become a malevolent being that might cause damage along the lines of the "Rains of Destruction".
She refuses, but then the Mask plays a dirty hand telling her that those men had the wrong desires and promises that with her heart she will become a kind wearer and it only will bring out her desires...it even asks if Vyse is one of them.
Seemingly curious about what the Mask may offer, Fina picks up the Mask. "Just this once, but I swear if anything bad happens you will be sealed away" Placing the Mask on her face and whitish miniature tornado spins rapidly as the Mask goes from hard wood to hot binding rubber melting against her face, She didn't have much of a chance to scream from the pain. The flesh of her face became smooth and rubbery in texture, tinted green -- altered possibly exaggerated from her original looks.
Even in the transformation, her Silvite garments have become less conservative, with her dress losing its covering on the shoulders and the triangle cut has moved down exposing cleavage. Her detachable sleeves contoured more to her arms as well as the rings on the front and back of them. Her stockings disappeared, exposing her bare legs and as for her boots they've transformed into a pair of high heeled shoes showing off her silver colored toenails.
The "new" Fina turned around and faced a now panicked Cupil. "Don't be scared Cupil, it's Mama!" She morphed Cupil into a mirror to flash it a cheeky Gorillaz-like smile confirming satisfaction in her Mask Makeover "And who would have thought that she looks absolutely STUNNING in green?" With the Mask getting Fina to overcome her shyness, can she get Vyse's attention or will she find out the hard way that green isn't his color? ------------------------------------------------
The background was an afterthought, suggested by HazardGallantmon. So that's why the shading/tone doesn't seem to make sense. Eh, these generic Paintbrush sceneries work better with my drawings rather than someone else's drawings anyway...Saemi for example.
Originally I was just going to use a map from the game or blur a screenshot in the background and call it a day.
Still was nice for a go though, it has been a while. Even though I was too lazy to boot up my Dreamcast to look at Crescent Isle.
So enjoy and look forward to others caught in the memetic mutation as always. ------
I keep saying this, but his style has a sense of "cheekiness" to it that I like.
As I said before, I'd definitely would like to work with you again in the future :3
The background is also quite nice!
Good work as usual!
So, who's next?
Later and best wishes!
