I am merely the colorist. JUST THE COLORIST. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It seems The Mask has found itself in the world of Macross and one of the series' leading ladies Misa Hayase has come into possession of the object. We all know how "our" favorite plot device just LOVES warping the minds of otherwise normal people and seeing how Misa is tied to her job, the Mask is going to have a field day with her.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- 'It has been sometime since Lisa Hayers, Rick, and Ben from Dozla, the leader of Zentradei forces, and right now, Lisa prepares to visit Rick, who, having ordering him to kiss her to demostrate a bit of 'human love' to Dozla, is she developing feelings for. When she arrives at his quarters, she can't help to flush in annoyance at the pictures of Lynn Minmay, the pop star that Rick has a major crush on.
When Rick turns to see her, he asks, curiously, "What's wrong Commander?"
Lisa replies, plainly while trying to sound calm, "Nothing, Lieutenant. You are due on the bridge." Lisa then heads off and Rick nervously watching her go.
Rick asks, nervously, "What's wrong with her?'
Back in her quarters, Lisa sighs and she asks herself, lowly, "What am I doing? I am the First Officer of this ship and one of the most capable member of this crew." The images of the kiss come into her mind and she can't shake them. Just then Lisa goes over to a set of things and out of it, she takes out a familiar greenish-brown mask. She remember that she got it from her father when a friend gave it to her. Her father told her that he had heard that this mask had great power in it and whoever wears it will be turned into what they truly are on the inside. She got as a child and she didn't know why she kept it. It was to teach her about responsiblity. Lisa can't help to smile at that memory and she says, plainly, "As if some kind of ugly old mask can..." Lisa doesn't finish her words when the masks glows causing her to drop it in surprise. She shakes her head and she says, plainly, "I was just seeing things." Lisa then picks up the mask and examines it, again. Just then the mask shimmers in front of her eyes, again, making her expresion become trance-like. She can't help to put on the mask and it lurches onto her face and covers it while turning into a substance similiar to wax and rubber at the same time. Lisa doesn't have much time to do anything expect moan loudly when the mask covers her face and causes her body to spin around in a mini-twister filled with thunder, lightning, and wind that wrecks her quarters. When the twister stops spinning around, we find Lisa has changed!
Lisa looks pratically the same expect that her head down to the start of her neck is lime green and rubbery like with deep, plump, and lovely pink.
Lisa/Mask goes over to a mirror, stretches out cartoon style, and she says, with a sly grin, "Commander Lisa Hayer reporting for duty! Mission: Show that awesome nitwit, Rick, what is real woman is like!" Lisa/Mask gives a wide smile as thoughts of the young pilot come into her mind...'

I actually finished coloring this earlier yesterday, but I thought I'd wait it out a bit to see if the original piece was cleared for posting (I don't have teh authority to do so)...but at the same time I don't want to keep Jokerisdaking waiting. Oh grey-area choices.
NOTES:
-Oh noes! I used teh Lens Flare of Satan on the glare of Veritech...and I'm not even sure the glare looks right. The commissioner was cool with it but still...
-Basic shading, either for tone or lighting. Sometimes both. I prefer for tone/value. BS'ed the hair but I'm sure it works for some people if not, well it's not like I delete the PSDs.
-Boosters and vapor trails. Yeah! May need some moar orange but YEAH!
I grew up with the series as Robotech (watching it Sunday nights on my local PBS station oddly), but I used the Japanese name to pay my respects and show some consistencies with the later series. Some might know her as "Lisa Hayes" alternatively.
Yes, let's keep asking a question I already answered.
That'll definitely get it done.
Usually when it's stuff I commission, the writing will be done off the bat. Jokerisdaking has a different taste in series, and even if I am familiar with the character I'm usually familiar with the work they originate in passing or a somewhat casual level (Kikyo was a lucky shot). Refreshing that information isn't exactly going to Wikipedia and jump starting "teh knowledge", chances are I'm going to come up with the appropriate setting, certain key terms and even other characters to use besides the victim. Or would you rather me tell the story of how it got there in a few sentences?
Don't get me wrong, it's perfectly understandable seeing how you've been waiting for some time.
It's just that I'll be damned if I pull a Dan Brown [link] on Macross. ^_^;
My my, how eager...though it's understandable. I don't "move around" as much on this gallery and unless me or *Jokerisdaking "direct" any commissions in an artist's direction, no one voluntarily does "Girl Mask" art and I'm so self conscious about improving my draftsmanship, speed and balancing out the gallery for the present time ^_^;
I've delayed one piece for almost a month to study a bit more, not to mention the purpose of my gallery was to show off my own creations or spin on my favorite game franchises, anime or just cartoons I knew in passing. Admittedly, I spend more time coloring which isn't so bad but I don't like being credited for as the artist.
I NEVER expected the "Girl Mask" stuff to get its own little specific fanbase as it does in the gallery today or (Shoxxe's for that matter, being the source for about 90% of them as of this posting date) and it's always a joy to color them.
However, as the artists we commission to do these pieces get swamped with other things due to higher demand/exposure combined with the fact that the subject matter isn't EXACTLY the most common shared one out there. Then it's all the more agreeable for a shorter timeframe of the next "Girl Mask" piece. In particular the time between this piece and the next isn't exactly going be preconceived as a matter of days. That being said, simply being the colorist isn't enough.
I too would like to see more "Girl Mask" art, since half the fun was being surprised by the results. That feeling is lost on me personally when I'm drawing it myself, but at least others can get that thrill.
That and stories, I always feel the art should be justified by a story.
Nah, it's no big deal on the credits line. I find it very flattering.
Funny thing about the afterburners, is that I almost lost my nerve on coloring them until I found it was better the use the Smudge tool to blend the smoke and fire some...come to think of it I did make a comment about it being in space, making the oversight that it'd be impossible for the vapor trail to show up in a vacuum ^_^; Silly me.
I used =IDarkShadowI's Misa Hayase piece [link] for a color reference, except for the eyes anyway. So, I got my trims from there.

I feel like I'm a on a roll though, but for now I am working on two drawings.
I'm not going to post the recoloring of Yuna on my page but I'll be glad to let you use it.
Nice afterburners.
Her suit's trim are green? (or is it to match the Mask? XD)
Oh, and I stole your credits line, if you don't mind (and no, I don't wait for you to post to do that!
