It's another Mask commission by *shoxxe, but the client is *Jokerisdaking instead of me... I KNOOOOOW! *makes dumbfounded expression*

This time the wearer in question is Padme Amidala from Star Wars. Not exactly the first thing that comes to mind for the theme, but everyone has their own spin and that's what makes the world interesting.
------------------
The Mask, with its mind and reality altering powers transcends many dimensions. Many worlds. No one is exempt from its influence, no matter how reserved or outgoing that person may be, its powers will always dominate the wearer extracting the person's innermost self and intensifying it. This seemingly takes that person's "other side" and brings it out as though it were a different person.

"Just think we have 10 whole days to ourselves"

In the 10 days of freedom between the newlywed Padawan and Senator, Anakin tries to save face by suggesting a trip to Tatooine for one part of their honeymoon (in spite of a recent tragedy). Padme shows some concern at first, but slowly agrees to the trip. To remain incognito, they decide that Mos Espa is the best place to keep a low profile.

They took in a view of the Dune Sea, but an abandoned Pod Racer catches Anakin's eye (noting it looked similar to his custom racer) and Padme wonders about its owner. Waiting nearby for a bit, until they give up figuring its owner left it for scrap. Padme climbs in and asks if Anakin can get it running. Anakin climbs in prompting Padme to move to the far right to see if it was still operational. Though when she moves over, her foot touches a strange object.

“Aaaaaaah, Ani! I think there’s something in here.”

Her knight rushed to her side, looking inside the cockpit, only finding the object in question is just that…an object.

“It’s just a mask.”

Anakin turned to face his partner, “You were scared of this?” he scoffed “You really are pampered.”

She pouted “Well it’s not like I could see it too well and this isn’t even our property, how was I supposed to know?”

“Remember, it was YOUR idea to take this out for a spin.” He teased “I swear, we may as well live as smugglers.”

He started to examine the turbines, checking for foreign objects in the couplings. Getting bits of silicon in the plasma circuit could cause potential damage.

Padme started to fumble with the mask in her hands. She wanted to get back at him, maybe a good scare to let him know how it felt.

“I think it should be functional.” He walked to the driver’s seat, “Just need to test her out”

Padme suddenly lunged to his direction holding the mask to her face but before she can even gauge his reaction, the mask itself started to react. It was as though someone was molding clay to her face, almost warm to the touch. A stormy green tornado took over in her spot.

Anakin fell back from the cockpit. He didn’t know whether to be scared or confused by the recent turn of events. “;Padme…?”

She slowly emerged out of the storm

The “new” Padme started to feign a fanning motion with her left hand, “Wow, you live on a planet with two suns and the heat takes a toll on you!” She tore her wedding dress
“Whew, that’s better.” She kicked her legs out “Feels goooood to stretch.”

Her glare shifted towards the “fearless hero”, who at the moment couldn’t maintain his footing. “What’s with you?”

“Anyway, you said you had this thing up and running.” She jumped on the left turbine

“So let’s take this for a spin!”

Meh, I pushed myself not in skill but rather getting the story out. Not one of my better days.

I tried to learn a new method but just stuck to my guns in the end. Well if it wasn't (that) broke don't fix it I suppose.

Nice- I've done this before myself, actually. Wrote a KP/Mask crossover that had Mask!Kim, Mask!Ron, and Mask!Shego, in the tradition of its passing in the comics.

It's only recently that I started to have time to do so...as to why, well that's a different story altogether (it has NOTHING to do with Mother 3 though).

Sorry to keep you waiting, later this Thursday I should have something baked.

No worries, as an obsessed fan of Earthbound I understand your predicament.

Had forgotten to fave this... Guess I was too surprised when it turned up colored! XD

It's cool you put the designs on the pod's cockpit - I was too tired of the picture at that point and kinda skipped that detail.

Ah yes. Well in terms of timing it probably should be a surprise. Think I'm getting a little better with coloring things, so this was done a bit quicker than my usual pace (quite ironic considering the Pod Racer).

Also I did bug Jokerisdaking about it since he did PM me earlier asking to color it. ^_^;

I didn't mind testing my hand in warping/displacing the decals. It's fun trying something new every now and then.

I've always liked the idea of "The Mask" and what it dose to the wearer.
As for suggestions, i have always been a fan of anime, so you could just take someone from an anime like bleach, naruto, evangleion, or any anime for that matter, i would prefer to be surprised.

Althought this Star Wars one through me of a little, didn't see it coming.

Can't wait for the next one.

Well again, Jokerisdaking funded this one to Shoxxe.

Not my choice to use a Star Wars character, but admirable nonetheless. Right before it was finished, he sent me a PM and asked if I could color it for him (I told him I would get to it as soon as it was finished).

It'll be a few weeks before the next one (commission log tells all) so I'll be filing in the gap for the art department...a bit earlier than I expected but hey, who am I to say "I don't wanna!"? Anyway, it is getting close to Halloween...a day of to be proud of costumes, make-up and MASKS.

I like being surprised too which is why I like sending someone to do my dirty work for that kind of thing. However, I should also note that having the idea in mind will ALWAYS carry a bit of surprise when you see the finished product on paper, no matter how you specify the character, setting or whatever. The end result is a thrill to see and a joy to color.

In my experience the conception and sketches hardly spoil the glory of the finished piece. This is why I try to encourage communication. Getting a taste of what the client may want gives the artist a bit of structure to work with so it cuts down on conception time and goes STRAIGHT to production as quick as possible. Leaving me to my own devices would likely have me working within my own bias.

I respect your viewpoint, I'm just trying to expand it a little just so you're sure on that position. ^_^;
