Can't believe I was his first commission. Weird that Delia's the subject again.
Now people know what to expect when they do business with me. ^_^;
***CHALLENGE*** GET A SOUNDBYTE OF VERONICA TAYLOR SAYING A LINE IN-CHARACTER FOR THIS PICTURE!
Now I know what a lot of you are thinking...what is the Mask doing in another world. Well maybe it's just a movie shoot by Cleavon Schpielbunk (see "Lights, Camera, Quacktion!" or "Go West Young Meowth") and he was desperate for an actress, or maybe after the events of "Joker Mask" the artifact became sentient to the point where it's able to create rifts in the time space continium and travel to different worlds for other prospective wearers...actually, I'll go with the latter.
I'm not here to argue continuity with the anal fans of Big-Head on what the Mask is and isn't (I seem to prefer the post-Jim Carrey depiction anyway...even though I do believe that the original comic deserves to be animated on an R-rated level that makes The SHIELD look like Muppet Babies)
Furthermore, I don't even want to explain logic for a side of me I discovered when I watched the episode "Counterfeit Mask" at the age of 12. Just go with it.
Sceptile's supposed to be her bodyguard, keeping an eye out for her when Ash can't. You know how promiscuous that thing can make you, he's just watching her back. Also the mini-tux was his choice, as he's just wearing it to fit in and justify his right not to be cramped in a PokeBall all night.
Actually, I'm not even sure her son is even aware of her secret life. I mean if you were a Yamato Nadesico ([link]) archetype of a single mom and let your 10 year old son out on a journey in a world with almost no guns (there was that one Growlithe episode, but you know how 4Kids and their fear of reality applied creative changes to OLM's handling of the remainder of the series...bastards), drugs or child predators you'd just get bored playing homemaker 24/7.
What other worlds will the Mask fall into? Who else will fall under the Mask's influence (and for some, "ruin" perfect visions of their favorite characters...mwa ha ha ha!)? April O'Neil? Princess Daisy? Kairi? Sailor Venus? Lois Griffin? Who knows? I do know that I'm not the only one with a say on the matter, I mean...you could have ideas too, and if with a pencil I say go for it.
Only time will tell...but really I just focus on females getting it anyway. I mean if you want someone like Light Yagami, Waluigi or Captain Falcon that's not my problem (don't get me wrong though... I WILL fave).
If I start a wave, then I know I've done my job.
Just forget Son of the Mask ever happened, repress it like horrible tragic memory. Just imagine Jamie Kennedy getting waterboarded for that piece of dreck if you must.
That movie rocked in my life just when I thought that cartoony movies are for kids. I was said that I have to grow up, so you might expect that I was really disappointed. But then I sawed that movie and.. You might know the rest. Lol.
So how Delia could act? It would be wacky if she wants to revenge at someone. Delia's Mr.Mime could at Milo's place, so it also could be getting the mask in "climax, like in the movie. It might like turn into green, shiny Pokemon, that acts just like manic joker. (-^^-)
One of my craziest suggestion is what IF Konata (From Lucky Star-anime) or Renge (From Ouran) could get the Loki Mask. Both are crazy otakus, so their powers might be anime-cartoonish, using the anime effects wackily. Maybe the most CRAZIEST idea is what if HOMER gets the Loki Mask! He might turn the Springfield upside down. (-¨w¨- )
I saw the movie a few times...and unfortunately the 2nd one as well. Good times.
Though the pivotal/magnetic part of my childhood had to do with watching the animated series. There were a LOT of good memories attached to that (Saturday mornings were a joy and Summer I would ALWAYS catch the show after Sailor Moon in my area before going out and about for the day)
The cartoon was pretty awesome because it took inspiration from the movie but also the comic books (which I didn't know until a few years later when I would acquire the internets) to become its own entity. At times other wearers besides Stanley would emerge in certain episodes. Including two INSPIRING episodes (watched on two separate years) caught me off guard where a woman Stan is acquainted with puts on the Mask for a twist...which I found strangely intriguing (and constantly disappointed in the 2nd movie for lacking, if not fan films).
To answer your question, Delia's core character seems very conservative and as a "Yamato Nadesico" archetype, she's the loving and sacrificing mother. Of course with her son not around so much, you'd imagine she'd want to have a little fun of her own (all work and no play doesn't make for good medicine). It isn't too far off to assume she's afraid of growing old (in fact according to Japanese fans, she's supposedly 29).
So how does this transfer to her Mask form? Well for starters, she'd be a real party girl. Acting out as though she were in her (pre-maternal) youth. Knowing that the Mask is known to bring out "those impulses" she could be trying to woo whatever fresh meat may happen upon the ship. Let's not forget, she can defend herself quite a bit...but then Sceptile wouldn't feel useful (plus he's just CRAZY about those Cheese Puffs)
Or alternatively, we COULD go on your revenge hook and have her hunt down her husband (assuming he's still alive and not divorced) for whatever frustration she may have involving his absence.
At first I wondered if the artist should draw Mr. Mime in the picture, but I figured Sceptile was better and told him to go with that. Still, a pokemon wearing the Mask...not exactly my department (I think someone did that on Elfwood but it was Mewtwo), although someone else is free to roam with the idea.
I've yet to take on doing Mask art myself on dA (everything so far has been commissions funded by me or Jokerisdaking), although that doesn't mean I don't plan on it. There's a LOT of interesting ideas for wearers, and I should expand my views on anime every time someone makes a suggestion (helps ground said character).
It'll be hard to define Konata's Mask face since Lucky Star's art style is FAIRLY minimalist and the details would look like something from a different series altogether. Though I will say, the character could be interesting to corrupt knowing she'll be able to not only warp her reality with anime and video game conventions but she'd be her own dream character but 4 REALZ!
As for Renge, I have a very good friend that's an Ouran fan (and knowing her recommendation, I can see myself picking there series up anytime soon). Not sure about her thoughts on Renge exactly, but I know for a fact that her Mask form is something more dangerous than interesting (probably even more than Mask Daisy). She already lives in self delusion, which isn't something that mixes well with power to begin with, but she's also a FANGIRL to boot.
Well, you certainly really put a lot of thought in those haven't you?
Homer/Mask...actually sounds pretty damned funny. Someone suggested the Mask would be used for a Treehouse of Horror segment of the Simpsons and I saw a LOT of fanfics doing that. Personally I'd most certainly have to do this myself though, I have a preference to seeing female variations of The Mask so that's what I point in Shoxxe's direction.
Male wearers can happen on my end...just very very few of them....
(-^^-) Wooah! You really got ideas!I'm doing a doujinshi collab project, and yep, I'm going to include The Mask-series in it, starting up with Furuba-manga. If you want to find out more, just look on my signature. The first volume (that includes Furuba, Tokyo Mew Mew and Full Moon Wo Sagashite <- (forget it, you know, the Arina Tanemura's series.) is going to have a plot similar to The Mask,(and in the second volume, too.) but now a food ( perhaps japanese) is going to be at place of Loki Mask.If taken a bite, you will start to choke horribly, and you have to be taken to hospital. This happens to Shigure Sohma, and when being in coma at hospital bed, his heart beats so fast that he wakes up- then after, the "Transformation Spin". Again, I was stopped to here, because I didn't again think how is he like when he wears the Loki Mask. If you want to join, maybe we could focus on more those Mask-thingies. You do seem to know a lot about The Mask/Big Head-series. (-^^-)
Here's a petition to bring him back, if you like to sign: [link]
Though I do enjoy the comic, movie (one of them anyway) and cartoon renditions of The Mask as well.
This gentleman right here did all the dirty work.
